#WOODYWALKS
Woody is walking 2,000 miles and raising $60,000 for mental health awareness and for the 49,300 suicide deaths that were reported last year, the nearly 7 million Americans that are living with Alzheimer's Disease, and the 1 in 100 people in the United States that are affected by schizophrenia and related psychosis disorders. I walk for these organizations:
Meet Woody Ellis
-
A 43 year old solo world traveler and mental health advocate
-
Spent 9 years traveling through 30 countries
-
Found comfort and therapy in exploring while hiking in unfamiliar locations
-
Traveling and trekking consistently means being away from loved ones, many of whom are fighting their own mental health battles
-
Woody decided if he's going to make sacrifices to follow his passions, he should make it meaningful, impactful, helpful, and inspirational
-
He believes in the power of sharing personal stories, tears, and laughter to connect and heal with people
-
He launched #WOODYWALKS to fight depression and the stigma surrounding mental illness, as well as fund research
